Everybody is a star at the 2018 WPI Christmas Party
Christmas is one of the busiest yet most favorite time of the year, especially for everybody at Whiteport Inc. (WPI) as the premier contractor and fit-out company celebrates its yearly Christmas party.
The gathering is much anticipated for its annual theme, and this year was no exception as the invitation called for employees to look their red-carpet best in the tradition of the popular Star Magic Ball. The party was held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, recreating the glitz and glamor of the well-known showbusiness event.
The Voice Philippines season 2 contestant Mark Cando was the special guest and host of the Christmas party, along with WPI’s very own Arnold Dacumos of the Office of the IMR. WPI Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, Engr. Edimar L. Ulep, welcomed attendees with some opening remarks and started the program with the annual Service Awards recognition.
For 2018, a total of 23 employees who have reached the 5-year service mark were awarded. Three 10-year awardees were also recognized, namely: Mr. Glenn Amado Naungayan Servania, General Foreman; Engr. Karen Shiela Adante Tadle, Contracts Mgt. Manager and Mr. Domingo Gacayan Gurtiza Jr., HSE Head. WPI also acknowledged a number of 15-year service awardees, whose careers started with mother company DDT Konstract Inc. (DDTKI). These are: Mr. Wilfredo Eduarte Renon, Foreman; Mr. Norberto Ducay Chan, Elf Driver and Engr. Bernardino Sarmiento Saclao, AVP-Fit Out. The awardees were serenaded by singer Nisha Bedaña of The Voice Teens Philippines.
WPI Human Resources and Admin Manager Venus B. Busog also announced one of the special awards of the evening and cited this year’s Builder of Excellence awardee, Engr. Joseph L. Landing, project manager of Citadines The Bay project.
Most of the evening was spent in the spirit of friendly competition as this year’s groups of employees battled it out for the traditional creative presentations. WPI employees showed off their impressive talents in singing, dancing and acting, with four teams ending up in the championship round: the Ortigas Team, Pasay Team, Davao Team and Head Office Team.
Judging was tough and was carried out by Dianna Tamayo, youngest daughter of Mr. Danilo D. Tamayo, Santiago Mersado Jr., DDTKI’s HR and Administrative Manager and special guest Rosh Masbad, Sofitel Guest Services Manager. The Head Office team emerged as the overall winner with their exceptional vocals, dance steps and costumes.
Everyone went home a winner thanks to the generosity of WPI management in giving out thousands of pesos in raffle prizes and cash prizes for the group performances.
The festivities were capped with some closing remarks from DDT Group of Companies Chairman and President, Engr. Danilo Tamayo, inspiring all employees to look forward to WPI’s landmark 10th anniversary next year. Indeed, the 2019 WPI Christmas celebration will definitely be more exciting and meaningful as the company marks a milestone in its journey toward continued excellence and passion for building.
